About The Author
With her books in more than 250 book stores, gift shops, boutiques, and restaurants spanning from northern Maine to New York City, it’s nearly impossible to comprehend that author Diane Gardner’ need to escape boredom inspired her first New England cookbook .
As a full-time stay-at-home mom, Diane has immersed herself into the joys of raising a family in the quaint shoreline town of Madison, Connecticut. Married to Bill, an executive in the Industrial industry, for more than 20 years, Diane’s lifestyle carries the same crazy schedule as most families with three busy children - getting the kids to school, carpooling for basketball and tennis practice, monitoring homework, attending dance recitals and attending business functions with her husband .
Jesse, Ty and Halle know how lucky they are to have a mom like Diane. On any given school morning, they know they can shout their individual breakfast requests down to the kitchen; whether it is Chocolate Chip Pancakes or a simple egg & cheese sandwich, and Diane will have it served as they all discuss the day’s upcoming activities. And all three teens enjoy the perks of hanging out at home with their friends. A weekend at the Gardner home can be comprised of legions of teens relaxing in the kitchen, munching on New England chowder or strawberries hand-dipped in chocolate fondue. Diane sees food as an opportunity to get to know her children (and their friends); an experience that both she and Bill cherish .
Adventure vacations and international travel have provided many opportunities for the Gardner family to discover new interests and unusual foods. Over the years, Diane has had the privilege to dine around the globe and experience hundreds of culinary creations. Yet, her favorite ‘restaurant’ is her own kitchen, where she can perfect recipes, experiment with new ingredients, and then settle into the family room for a moderately competitive game of Set-Back or Presidenté with family and friends.
A full schedule and a wonderful family life wasn’t enough to keep Diane fully engaged, and she began her venture into the world of creating cookbooks. Meeting with chefs and cooks, scouting out epicurean markets, testing new recipes, managing distribution orders, and scheduling book signings now fill her already-busy calendar. The concept of boredom is a distant memory.
Diane thrives on her passion for cooking, and embraces any opportunity she can to share her experience, techniques, and tips that will encourage everyone to enjoy creating meals that are memorable and fun. Diane also welcomes any opportunity for a cooking demonstration or event consultation. Slumber party catering, however, is not available, with exceptions made only for Bill, Jesse, Ty, and Halle.
